History

"Hotel Dieu" a French term meaning Hostel of God. Monks, nuns and priests were amoung the first to provide medical services in many countries. France had some of the earliest hospitals started by the religious orders. This building was originally the first hospital in Russell and was run by the Benedictine Nuns.
